Photoprism runs as a Docker container with MariaDB or SQLite. Initial indexing benefits from a capable CPU; a GPU accelerates TensorFlow processing but isn't required. Storage scales with your collection—dedupliction and sidecar files add modest overhead.

The initial import and indexing process can take hours for large libraries, but runs in the background without blocking access. Set up automatic indexing of new photos from network shares, Syncthing folders, or mobile upload directories for a seamless workflow.
